Burning Permits

Burning Permits are required in Midway, Permits are generally approved for three (3) days unless we have a drought. All permitted fires start at 5:00 PM, DST and need to be out by 8:00 AM.

Burning Permits can be accessed online from the Minnesota DNR website, and will mention status and current burning restrictions. Burning can begin at 5:00 PM, DST and fire must be out cold by 8:AM. You will receive an active site number which is good for a calendar year, January 1, to December 31. You will need a VISA/Mastercard credit/debit card for payment, Cost is $5.00 per year.

Once restrictions are in place, Special permits will only be written for extenuating circumstances, This would include time sensitive construction projects and prescribed burning conducted by professional firefighters. The DNR encourages the use of composting, recycling and chipping as alternatives to burning.

PLEASE CALL 911 BEFORE BURNING

All permitted fires are required to call 911 before starting.

Recreational Fires do not require a Burning Permit, but it is very wise to call 911 before starting.
